Kimberly A. Houston is a 2nd Term Councilwoman - Ward 4 Meridian, MS, an Evangelist, Motivational Speaker, and Entrepreneur. Because of Kim’s zeal to impact the lives of everyday people, she has gained the title “The Great Motivator”. As a community leader, her ultimate goal is to impact, inspire, and transform the lives of everyone with whom she comes in contact.
She is a graduate of The University of West Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Business with emphasis on Management. She is married to Pastor Gary Houston and they have three children.
While she motivates others to be spiritually strong, it is also her belief that one must also be mentally equipped to face every day struggles and challenges. Thus, she is a strong advocate for public schools and she takes an active interest in the welfare of our youth.
She is a member and past President of the Meridian Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the Meridian chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the PTO of Oakland Heights Elementary School. She has owned and operated Shelter Insurance –Houston Agency since December 1998 and has been named Who's Who among Executives and Professionals.
Kimberly loves to serve and she is founder and CEO of Upward Bound Ministries through which she hosts semi-annual women conferences and sponsors Sarah's Daughters Academy which is a mentoring program for middle school girls helping them discover and then walk in their God ordained purpose.
She is an active member of the Meridian First Ladies Civitan Club, Meridian Public School District Dropout Prevention Team, a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of East Mississippi and she serves on various boards and community organizations.
